Dogecoin Price History


  • In 2013 - Dogecoin was launched in December 2013 at a price of about €0.00019. Although it was created as a joke by the founders Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, the coin immediately got a lot of attention on Reddit: the price jumped by more than 300% within a few days to €0.00071. After that, the price dropped back down again and fell by more than 80%.
  • In 2014 - The community behind Dogecoin tried with various funny campaigns to bring DOGE into the media. For example, by raising money for the Jamaican bobsleigh team to participate in the Sochi Olympics and by sponsoring NASCAR driver Josh Wise. The price briefly rose from about €0.00030 to €0.00133, making it worth more than four times as much.
  • In 2017 - During the 2017 bull market Dogecoin rose, just like the rest of the market, and even reached an all-time high of €0.0078. Many traders used DOGE as an entry coin on exchanges because of the low transaction costs.
  • In 2018 - After the big rises in 2017 Dogecoin reached a new all-time high of €0.01421 in 2018, but then the crypto market entered a bear market and it dropped by about 85%.
  • In 2020 - A trend started around Dogecoin called “to €1,” where traders encouraged each other to buy DOGE. This goal was not reached, but the price still rose to €0.0042. After that, it fell back to €0.0021.
  • In 2021 - Elon Musk started tweeting about Dogecoin in 2021, calling himself the “Dogefather.” Because of these tweets and the bull market that year, DOGE reached an all-time high of €0.5654 in August. That year also saw the announcement of the very first space mission (DOGE-1), which was fully funded in Dogecoin.
  • In 2022 - After a time of peaks the market turned bearish again. This was due to the collapse of Terra Luna and FTX. The DOGE price dropped back to a low of about €0.0505 and rose to a high around €0.1621.
  • In 2024 - The crypto market recovered in 2024 and saw a bullish trend, with Dogecoin rising to about €0.4422 in September 2024. Political hype formed around Dogecoin when U.S. president Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk as head of a new “Department of Government Efficiency,” or DOGE. In addition, in May 2024 Kabosu, the Shiba Inu dog behind the Doge meme, passed away. This also created a lot of media attention.
  • In 2025 - Grayscale Investments announced in January 2025 the launch of a Dogecoin-focused investment fund, namely the “Grayscale Dogecoin Trust.” But due to the market correction, Dogecoin fell to a yearly low of €0.1294.
