Cardano Price History


  • In 2017 – Cardano was launched in September 2017 with the issuance of ADA tokens. The initial trading prices were around €0.02. The project quickly gained attention for its academic and scientific approach to blockchain development.
  • In 2020 – With the launch of the Shelley mainnet, Cardano began its transition to a decentralized proof-of-stake network. This allowed users to stake ADA and earn rewards, driving greater adoption and a rising price.
  • In 2021 – Cardano reached a new all-time high of over €2.50 in September 2021, shortly after the Alonzo upgrade that enabled smart contracts. This made Cardano attractive for DeFi projects and NFT initiatives, although the ecosystem grew more slowly than expected.
  • In 2022 – Like many other cryptocurrencies, ADA suffered a steep decline during the global crypto crash. The price fell back below €0.30, despite ongoing technological developments such as the Vasil hard fork, which improved scalability and efficiency.
  • In 2023 – Cardano continued working on its roadmap, including improvements through Hydra, a layer-2 solution that drastically increases transactions per second. While the price remained modest, the ecosystem grew slowly but steadily.
  • In 2024 – Cardano regained attention thanks to the rise of new DeFi applications and a renewed wave of adoption in Africa, where it focuses on real-world use cases such as identity solutions and microfinance. The ADA price recovered toward €1.
  • In 2025 – The Voltaire Era marks Cardano’s transition to fully decentralized governance. With the Chang Hard Fork and the signing of the Cardano Constitution, ADA holders gain direct influence over protocol decisions. This makes Cardano unique as a blockchain with democratic governance through community voting.
