Cosmos Price History


  • 2019 - Price range: €3.20 - €6.45
    Cosmos Hub went live on March 13, 2019, and ATOM became widely tradable shortly after. In the first few months of trading, the price climbed to about €6.45 in June. After that, ATOM kept swinging a lot and ended December at around €3.75.
  • 2020 - Price range: €1.339 - €7.579
    The price dropped back to about €1.34 in March during the COVID-19 market shock and then recovered in the summer to a high of around €7.58 in August. By the end of 2020, ATOM was around €4.36, about 16.3% higher than at the end of January.
  • 2021 - Price range: €3.469 - €38.15
    ATOM rose sharply throughout the year, with a rally that erased the deeper winter low from January and peaked around €38.15 in September before ending the year around €24.66. The rise lined up with major network developments like the Stargate upgrade and the activation of IBC, plus the launch of Osmosis as a major DeFi hub within the Cosmos ecosystem.
  • 2022 - Price range: €5.3 - €39.46
    The year started high, but ATOM fell back in the first half of 2022 to levels around €5.30 in June before a partial recovery to about €8.72 at the end of December. This weaker period lined up with broad market stress after the collapse of Terra/UST in May and the later turmoil around the fall of FTX in November.
  • 2023 - Price range: €5.848637 - €14.34
    ATOM started 2023 around €9.02, briefly moved higher in February to about €14.34, and then dropped to a low in September around €5.85. By the end of December, the price recovered to about €10.31, a yearly gain of about 14.3%. In 2023, progress around Interchain Security and the onboarding of consumer chains played an important role in the ecosystem picture for ATOM.
  • 2024 - Price range: €3.2635 - €13.29541
    The price rose in early 2024 to about €13.30 in March, then fell back to a low around €3.26 in September and ended the year around €6.20. In 2024, the Hub infrastructure for permissionless Interchain Security and tools like Forge clearly became more mature, which changed the story around ATOM while the price stayed volatile throughout the year.
  • 2025 - Price range: €1.5613 - €10.0279
    ATOM lost a lot of ground during 2025: the price started the year around €9.06 and fell to a low of about €1.56 in December, ending the year around €1.76 - about 80.6% lower than at the start of 2025. In December, there was a modest recovery from the low, with a rise of about 12.8% to the closing level.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €1.3997 - €2.3138
    The quarter opened around €1.77 and briefly climbed in January to about €2.31, but then found support in March around €1.40 and closed at €1.43 - about 18.9% lower than at the start of the quarter.
  • Q2 2026 - Price range: €1.3547 - €1.9743
    ATOM moved sideways, with a peak near the end of May around €1.97 and a low in June around €1.35. The quarter ended around €1.38, about 3.7% lower than at the start of April.
  • Q3 2026 - Price range: €1.0526 - €1.5234
    After starting around €1.38, the price briefly rose in mid-July to about €1.52, but then fell in August to around €1.05. In early September, there was a recovery to about €1.26, leaving the quarter about 8.6% lower than at the start of July.

Upcoming Technical Updates


  • ATOM Tokenomics — Phase 2 - timing not yet known - Cosmos Hub is working with Gauntlet on a new tokenomics model for ATOM. In Phase 2, different ways to adjust future token issuance and staking rewards are being explored. No final model has been chosen yet. Any changes will first need to be worked out later and approved through governance before they can be introduced on the network.
  • Gaia v28 mainnet upgrade - Expected in Q3 2026 - Cosmos Hub is working on the Gaia v28 upgrade. The main change is removing the old Interchain Security provider functionality, since no active consumer chains are using it anymore. The upgrade proposal is on-chain, and if it gets approved, validators will need to switch to Gaia v28 at the agreed time.
  • Osmosis → Cosmos Hub migration/conversion proposal - timing not yet known - There is a proposal to further integrate Osmosis with Cosmos Hub. Under the current plan, holders of circulating OSMO would be able to convert their tokens to ATOM over a one-year period. The proposal has not been finally approved yet and could still change. Execution would require, among other things, governance approval, technical implementation, and the actual start of the conversion process.
