THORChain Price History


  • 2019 - Price range: €0.0073 - €0.1160
    In July, THORChain made 20 million RUNE publicly available through an Initial DEX Offering on Binance DEX. The price then first moved around €0.01 to €0.02, dropped in September to about €0.0073, and then rose sharply. In December, the price climbed to €0.1160, after which RUNE ended the year around €0.0631. In October, THORChain announced that it would burn about 484.6 million RUNE, reducing the total token supply to 500 million RUNE.
  • 2020 - Price range: €0.0355 - €1.016
    RUNE started the year around €0.063 and fell during the March market crash to about €0.0355. That was followed by a long recovery: in the summer, the price rose above €0.90, and by the end of December it reached about €1.02. In September, THORChain launched Chaosnet and BEPSwap, allowing users to use real assets and liquidity on the early network for the first time.
  • 2021 - Price range: €0.9273 - €17.39
    RUNE rose from about €0.96 at the start of the year to €17.39 in May. That month also saw a broad crypto market sell-off, after which the price dropped sharply. In April, THORChain launched Multichain Chaosnet, allowing users to swap native assets between different networks without wrapped tokens. The price ended the year around €5.98, about 524.6% higher than at the start. In July, THORChain also dealt with two exploits of the Ethereum integration; the team made fixes and security changes.
  • 2022 - Price range: €1.008 - €11.77
    RUNE started the year around €5.99 and rose in March to about €11.77. After that, the price dropped sharply: in May, Terra and UST collapsed, after which THORChain removed the Terra connection. The price kept falling and reached about €1.01 in November, during broad crypto market turmoil after the FTX collapse. THORChain reached its mainnet in June, the production version of the network. RUNE ended the year around €1.19, about 80.1% lower than at the start.
  • 2023 - Price range: €0.7227 - €6.706
    RUNE started the year around €1.19 and fell in June to about €0.72. That was followed by a strong recovery: in August, the price moved back above €1, and in the fall it climbed further to about €6.71. During the same period, THORChain introduced Streaming Swaps, which execute large transactions in smaller steps. The lending protocol also went live, allowing users to use BTC and ETH as collateral. RUNE ended the year around €4.86, about 309% higher than at the start.
  • 2024 - Price range: €2.333 - €10.50
    RUNE started the year around €4.86 and rose in March to about €10.50. After that, the price fell, with a low around €2.33 in August, followed by a recovery to about €4.32 at the end of the year. The approval of U.S. spot bitcoin investment products in January was an important development for the broader crypto market. Within THORChain, 60 million RUNE were burned from the reserve in the first quarter, and lending capacity was adjusted. By the end of the year, the protocol stopped issuing new loans to limit risks for the protocol and liquidity providers.
  • 2025 - Price range: €0.4576 - €5.044
    RUNE started the year around €4.32 and climbed in the first few days to about €5.04. That was followed by a sharp drop; in February, the price fell to around €1.13 and later in the year further to about €0.46. In January, THORChain paused THORFi, the protocol's lending and savings products, because of large outstanding obligations. Claims from affected users, worth about 200 million dollars, were converted into dollar amounts. Through a restructuring, affected users could claim TCY tokens, which give stakers a share of protocol revenue. In the spring, attackers used THORChain after the Bybit theft to swap stolen ether into bitcoin. In 2025, the protocol also expanded with smart contracts and products from Rujira. RUNE ended the year around €0.47, about 89% lower than at the start.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €0.2935 - €0.615
    RUNE started the quarter around €0.47 and rose in January to about €0.62. After that, the price fell, hitting a low around €0.29 in February, before recovering to about €0.36 at the end of March. In the same quarter, the Solana integration went live, allowing users to swap native assets from the Solana ecosystem through THORChain. Rapid Swaps also became fully operational, making it possible to process transactions faster under suitable conditions.
  • Q2 2026 - Price range: €0.2555 - €0.541
    RUNE started the quarter around €0.36 and rose in May to about €0.54. After that increase, the price dropped sharply and reached about €0.26 in early June. In May, THORChain was hit by an exploit that stole about 10.7 million dollars from an Asgard vault. The network then went offline and was restarted on June 22, after about five weeks, with adjusted security. RUNE ended the quarter around €0.33.
  • Q3 2026 - Price range: €0.326 - €0.742
    RUNE started the quarter around €0.33 and moved slightly higher in July. In August and September, the price kept rising, reaching about €0.74 by the end of September. In August, a new protocol liquidity setup went live: 20% of revenue is used for liquidity owned by THORChain itself. In September, the share of revenue going to burning RUNE was cut from 5% to 1%. Also, transactions involving funds linked to the Bitget exploit at the end of September made up an unusually large share of trading volume.
  • Q4 2026 - Price range: €0.5905 - €0.7355
    In the first days of October, RUNE fell from about €0.70 to around €0.59 on October 8. The price then recovered slightly and stood around €0.61 on October 9. On October 7, THORChain announced that the Zcash integration had been completed. A day later, native swaps with ZEC went live, allowing users to swap Zcash directly with assets on other supported blockchains. The feature was initially rolled out with limited liquidity. The integration does not automatically make transactions through THORChain private.

Upcoming Technical Updates


  • Native Monero mainnet launch - timing not yet known - THORChain plans to enable native swaps with Monero on mainnet, so users can swap XMR directly with assets on other supported networks, without wrapped tokens or crypto exchanges. The launch has been delayed: issues around swapping Monero vaults still need to be resolved first. A new launch date is not yet known.
