  • 2018 - Price range: €0.003215 - €0.1101
    IOST was around €0.02 in mid-January and later that month surged to about €0.11. After that, the price fell for a long time and ended the year around €0.0045, about 95.9% lower than the peak. In June and October, IOST released new public testnet versions with Everest. These were development steps, not a mainnet launch. In November, the broad sell-off in the crypto market continued.
  • 2019 - Price range: €0.003472 - €0.01664
    IOST started the year around €0.0045 and climbed to about €0.0166 in the first quarter. After that, the price gradually fell, with a short bounce in October, and ended the year around €0.0042: about 8.3% lower than at the start. In February, the Olympus mainnet went live. That made IOST a working public blockchain after the earlier testnet phase.
  • 2020 - Price range: €0.001397 - €0.007779
    IOST rose in early 2020 and reached about €0.0078 in February. In March, the price dropped sharply to around €0.0014 during the turmoil in the financial markets. A recovery followed, but IOST ended the year around €0.0046. That was about 11.7% higher than at the start of the year. In July, IOST introduced on-chain governance: participants could now submit proposals and vote on them.

    IOST rose from about €0.0046 at the start of the year to around €0.0759 in April. After that came big swings and a sharp drop in May, during a broad sell-off in the crypto market. The price later recovered partly, but ended December around €0.0275, about 63.8% lower than the April peak. Over the full year, IOST was still about 492.7% higher than at the start.

    IOST climbed to about €0.0486 in the first quarter, but then fell for a long time. In May, the collapse of TerraUSD caused major turmoil in the crypto and DeFi market. In November, extra stress followed from the collapse of FTX. IOST ended the year around €0.0063, about 77.1% lower than at the start.

    IOST rose in January and February and climbed to about €0.0148. After that, the price fell back to around €0.0059 in August. In the final months, IOST gradually recovered and ended the year around €0.0092, about 46.6% higher than at the start. In February, IOST made on-chain governance more accessible by lowering the threshold for proposals and simplifying how they were handled.

    IOST fell in January, but then recovered and climbed to about €0.014 in March. In the months after that, the price dropped sharply, to around €0.0036 in August. After a recovery in the fall, IOST ended December around €0.0061, about 33.3% lower than at the start of the year. The approval of U.S. spot bitcoin investment products in January came during a period when the broader crypto market was picking up. In December, IOST also introduced a new token economy and a direction toward payments through a Layer 2 network.

    IOST climbed to about €0.0082 in early January, but then mostly kept falling. On October 10, the price dropped sharply to around €0.00028, during a broad sell-off in the crypto market after the threat of extra U.S. import tariffs on Chinese goods. After that, IOST recovered, but the price ended the year around €0.00154, about 74.9% lower than at the start. In March, the project introduced IOST 3.0, with a new focus on a Layer 2 solution on BNB Chain, payments, and the tokenization of real-world assets. The new infrastructure and related applications were developed and rolled out in phases.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €0.0008654 - €0.001761
    IOST started January around €0.00154 and peaked that month around €0.00176. After that, the price gradually fell, with a low around €0.00087 at the end of March. IOST ended the quarter at about €0.00093, about 39.7% lower than at the start. In March, the U.S. SEC published an explanation of how securities rules can apply to different crypto assets and transactions; that explanation did not specifically place IOST in any particular category.

In July, the final transitional arrangements under MiCA ended, which meant European licensing rules now applied to relevant providers. In September, a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act in the U.S. Senate did not reach the required majority. As a result, work on the bill for clearer crypto rules temporarily stalled.
