Gas Price History

  • 2017 - Price range: €1,2866 - €40,6434
Starting in July, Gas first rose gradually and then quickly: in August, the price climbed above €30. In December, the price reached about €40,64, after which Gas pulled back and ended the year around €25,28. In September, China banned ICOs, a major regulatory change for crypto and for the Chinese Neo ecosystem.
  • 2018 - Price range: €1,4047 - €79,4758
Gas started the year around €25,12 and rose quickly in January to about €79,48. After that, a long decline followed; by December, the price was around €1,40 and ended the year at €1,86, about 92,6% lower than at the start. This happened during the broad crypto bear market of 2018. In July, Neo also announced the development of Neo 3.0, a planned overhaul of, among other things, the network and the economic model.
  • 2019 - Price range: €0,8054 - €3,7666
Gas started the year around €1,86 and rose gradually in the spring. In June, the price climbed to about €3,77, but after that it fell back in steps and ended the year around €0,81, about 56,4% lower than at the start. Neo rolled out the dBFT 2.0 upgrade in June. That made the network more resilient to disruptions and also changed the fees for larger transactions.
  • 2020 - Price range: €0,5357 - €2,4634
Gas rose in February to about €2,46, but in March it dropped to €0,54 during the broad market sell-off around the pandemic. After that, the price recovered gradually and ended the year at €1,24, about 53,3% higher than at the start. The sharp drop in March came alongside a global wave of selling and forced liquidations in the crypto market. In December, Neo released Preview4, a test version of the planned network upgrade.
  • 2021 - Price range: €1,1445 - €19,2153
Gas rose quickly from about €1,24 at the start of the year and reached about €19,22 in April. After that, the price pulled back, with a sharp drop in May and June, and ended the year at €5,02. That was still about 306,1% higher than at the start. Neo N3 went live in August as a new blockchain, with a token migration from Neo Legacy. The new version changed, among other things, how Gas is used and earned. In September, China tightened restrictions on crypto trading and mining.
  • 2022 - Price range: €1,687 - €5,7501
Gas started the year around €5,03 and rose in April to about €5,75. In May, the price dropped sharply to €1,69. After that, a partial recovery followed, but Gas ended the year at €1,84, about 63,5% lower than at the start. The decline took place during broader market stress after the collapse of Terra and UST in May and the fall of FTX in November.
  • 2023 - Price range: €1,8187 - €28,51
Gas traded around €1,84 at the start of 2023 and rose gradually in the first half of the year. From October, the price moved up much faster and reached about €28,51 in November. After that, a sharp pullback followed; Gas ended the year at €6,24, still about 240% higher than at the start. In October, Neo announced a planned sidechain that would be suitable for Ethereum apps and connect to Neo N3. In August, a U.S. court reversed the rejection of Grayscale's proposal for a spot bitcoin fund, forcing the SEC to review the proposal again.
  • 2024 - Price range: €2,215 - €7,675
Gas started January at €6,24 and reached about €7,68 in early March. After that, the price fell, hitting a low of €2,22 in August, before partially recovering to €4,30 at the end of the year. That left Gas about 31,1% lower than at the start. In January, the SEC approved U.S. spot bitcoin investment products, an important step for giving investors access to bitcoin through regular investment accounts. In July, Neo X went live: this Ethereum-compatible sidechain made it possible to send Gas from Neo N3 to Neo X, expanding Gas use within the ecosystem.
  • 2025 - Price range: €1,4069 - €6,7062
Gas rose in January from about €4,30 to €6,71, but then mostly declined. In October, the price fell to €1,41 and ended the year at €1,72, about 59,9% lower than at the start. That sharp move in October came alongside a sell-off in the crypto market after rising trade tensions between the U.S. and China. Neo also announced that the original Neo Legacy mainnet would shut down on October 31. Holders had to move their NEO and Gas tokens to Neo N3 before that date to keep using their tokens. After the shutdown, transactions and migrations on Neo Legacy would no longer be possible.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €1,22235 - €1,9605
Gas started the quarter around €1,72 and rose in the first week to about €1,96. After that, the price fell, hitting a low of €1,22 in February, and partially recovered to €1,37 by the end of March. That was about 20,5% lower than at the start. In January, a proposal was put forward to replace Gas rewards for voting with staking rewards. It remained a proposal and did not change the token rewards yet. In March, the U.S. SEC, together with the CFTC, clarified how different types of crypto assets can fall under securities rules.
  • Q2 2026 - Price range: €0,82415 - €1,7254
Gas started April around €1,36 and rose in the first few days to about €1,73. After that, the price gradually fell, and the decline sped up in June. On June 25, Gas was around €0,82; the quarter ended at €0,92, about 32,3% lower than at the start. In April, Da Hongfei proposed a new setup for the Neo Foundation, with more oversight by token holders and a redistribution of part of the foundation's NEO and Gas holdings. The proposal was meant to resolve a governance conflict, but it had not yet been approved or carried out.
  • Q3 2026 - Price range: €0,7825 - €1,41045
Gas traded mostly around €0,90 in July and early August and fell to about €0,78 at the end of July. In the second half of August, the price recovered and kept rising in September to about €1,41. After a pullback, the quarter ended at €1,26, about 37,6% higher than at the start. At the end of August, Flamingo Finance, a major app within the Neo N3 ecosystem, was hit by an attack on its reward calculations. The attacker minted a large number of FLM tokens and drained liquidity from trading pools; the Neo Council then froze the attacker's address.
  • Q4 2026 - Price range: €1,1351 - €1,30545
Through October 9, Gas briefly rose in early October to about €1,31. After that, the price fell and reached about €1,14 on October 8, followed by a small recovery to €1,18 on October 9. That was about 6,4% lower than on October 1.
