  • 2014 - Price range: €0,00001658 - €0,01105
    DigiByte launched its network in January. The price briefly rose to about €0,01105 in early February, but then dropped sharply and ended the year around €0,000036. That early period lined up with the collapse of bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox, which hurt confidence in the young crypto market.
  • 2015 - Price range: €0,00002619 - €0,0009000
    DGB started the year around €0,000036 and surged in October to about €0,000900. That was followed by a sharp pullback; by the end of December, the price was around €0,000126, still about 250,3% higher than at the start of the year. In December, DigiSpeed went live, which meant new blocks were created every 15 seconds instead of every 30 seconds.
  • 2016 - Price range: €0,0001067 - €0,0006862
    DGB moved up in the first few months and reached about €0,000686 in March. After that, the price fell back and stayed much lower for the rest of the year, ending around €0,000241. In August, the Bitfinex hack, in which about 120,000 bitcoin were stolen, raised fresh concerns about the security of crypto exchanges.

    DGB traded around €0,00019 in early March and then climbed in several strong moves. In June, the price moved above €0,05, followed by a pullback. Toward the end of the year, DGB rose sharply again to about €0,07618 and finished around €0,05863, about 24.240,5% higher than at the start of the year. In April, DigiByte activated SegWit, which stores transactions more efficiently and frees up more space in blocks.

    DGB rose to about €0,1188 in the first week of January, but then fell sharply over the course of the year. After a temporary bounce in the summer, the price kept sliding in November and December. By the end of December, DGB was around €0,00907, about 84,6% lower than at the start of the year. This happened during the long crypto market downturn, which worsened further in November.

    DGB started the year around €0,00910 and rose in the spring to about €0,01510. After that, the price gradually moved lower and ended the year around €0,00471, about 48,2% lower than at the start. In July, DigiByte replaced Groestl with Odocrypt as one of its five mining algorithms. Odocrypt changes regularly, which makes fixed, specialized mining hardware less effective.

    DGB started the year around €0,02044 and rose sharply in the spring. On May 1, the price climbed to about €0,1518. That was followed by a long decline, with a brief bounce in August, and by the end of December DGB was around €0,02932, about 80,7% lower than the May peak. In September, China announced stricter restrictions on crypto activity, including trading through foreign exchanges.

    DGB started the year around €0,02932 and briefly rose in March to about €0,03937. After that, the price fell, with heavy market stress in May after the collapse of Terra and UST. The turmoil picked up again in November when the fall of FTX hit the crypto market. DGB ended the year around €0,00719, about 75,5% lower than at the start.

    DGB started the year around €0,00719 and rose in February to about €0,01249. The price then fell and dropped to around €0,00536 in June. In the second half of the year, DGB gradually recovered and ended around €0,00896, about 24,7% higher than at the start. In June, the SEC sued two major trading platforms, which increased uncertainty around the rules for crypto exchanges.

    DGB started January around €0,00896 and rose sharply in February and March. By the end of March, the price was around €0,02155. After that, it fell to about €0,00460 in early November, then recovered and ended the year around €0,01008. In early 2024, the SEC approved U.S. spot bitcoin ETPs, giving investors access to bitcoin through regulated products. At the end of December, the main MiCA rules for crypto-asset service providers took effect in the EU.

    DGB started January around €0,01008 and rose in the first few days to about €0,01555. After that, the price mostly trended lower, with a low around €0,00384 in October and a partial recovery toward the end of the year. DGB ended around €0,00494, about 51% lower than at the start. In October, new U.S. tariff threats against China lined up with a broad crypto sell-off and large forced liquidations.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €0,003088 - €0,006229
    DGB briefly rose to about €0,00623 in January, but then fell. In March, the price dropped to around €0,00309 and then recovered slightly to €0,00352 by the end of the quarter. That was about 28,8% lower than at the start. In March, the SEC and CFTC published an explanation of how U.S. securities rules can apply to different types of crypto assets, including mining-related activity.
  • Q2 2026 - Price range: €0,00201 - €0,004327
    DGB rose to about €0,00433 in early April, but then slipped over the course of the quarter. In June, the price reached about €0,00201 and ended around €0,00208, a drop of about 41% from the start of the quarter. DigiByte released Core v9.26.2 at the end of June. The software included a DigiDollar implementation and a security fix; the rollout had not yet been activated on the network.

    DGB started July around €0,00208 and moved higher later that month. The rise continued to about €0,00485 in August, after which the price pulled back a bit and ended the quarter around €0,00390. That was about 87,8% higher than at the start of the quarter. In July, DigiByte activated DigiDollar on mainnet: a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar and backed by DGB that is temporarily locked up as collateral. That same month, the transition period under MiCA also ended for existing crypto-asset service providers in the EU.
  • Q4 2026 - Price range: €0,0032225 - €0,003972
    From October 1 through October 9, DGB fell from about €0,00390 to €0,00327. During that period, the price briefly traded around €0,00322, and by the end it was about 16,2% lower than at the start of the quarter.

Upcoming Technical Updates


  • Thaw Day - Expected in Q4 2026 - DigiByte plans to activate Thaw Day at block height 24.490.000, expected around November 1, 2026. This change adjusts the DigiDollar rules: a new price check replaces the freeze on new issuance, and the old volatility lock for transfers and redemptions goes away. The accounting for collateral vaults also changes. Miners and full nodes need to update their software to keep following the same network rules.
