Additional Information about Polyhedra Network (ZKJ)

What Is Polyhedra Network (ZKJ)?

Polyhedra Network is an infrastructure project that uses zero-knowledge technology to make data and computations verifiable. With a zero-knowledge proof, you can prove that a computation is correct without revealing all the underlying data publicly.

One of Polyhedra Network's main products is zkBridge. It allows different blockchains to exchange messages, data, and tokens with each other. Cryptographic proofs check the accuracy of that information, so there is less need to trust the central parties that usually run a bridge.

Polyhedra also develops Expander, a system that makes it possible to generate zero-knowledge proofs quickly. This technology can be used for things like blockchain transactions, cross-chain communication, and verifying AI model computations.

The project also develops EXPchain, a blockchain built for verifiable and scalable AI applications. Developers can build apps here where zero-knowledge proofs can be used to check whether AI computations were carried out correctly.

ZKJ is the utility token of the Polyhedra ecosystem. Among other things, it is used to pay transaction fees on EXPchain and to access certain network services.

How Does Polyhedra Network (ZKJ) Work?

Polyhedra Network works by using zero-knowledge technology to make computations and data verifiable. One key piece is Expander, a system used to create zero-knowledge proofs. First, a computation is turned into a so-called circuit. Then a prover runs the computation and creates a compact cryptographic proof. Other parties can use that proof to check that the result is correct without rerunning the full computation.

Another important product is zkBridge. It lets smart contracts send messages and data between different blockchains. A message is recorded on the original blockchain and then moved to the destination network by a relayer. Zero-knowledge proofs are used to verify the information from the original blockchain. As a result, the receiving blockchain does not have to fully trust a single central bridge operator.

Polyhedra also develops EXPchain, its own EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain. That lets developers use existing Ethereum tools and smart contracts. EXPchain is mainly focused on AI applications where zkML can prove that an AI model or computation was carried out correctly without exposing sensitive input data.

According to the documentation, EXPchain uses Expanded Proof of Stake, also called ExPoS, as its consensus mechanism. Validators help verify transactions and add new blocks to the network. Polyhedra combines this staking model with zero-knowledge technology to make computations and information within the network verifiable.

ZKJ is the native utility token of EXPchain and is used to pay transaction fees. The token was originally issued on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain and can be moved to EXPchain through a bridge. ZKJ can also be staked. Stakers and zero-knowledge provers can receive rewards for their contribution to the network. The token can also be used for governance, which lets holders vote on certain decisions within the ecosystem.

Who Are the Founders of Polyhedra Network?

Polyhedra Network was founded by Yongzheng Jia, Tiancheng Xie, and Jiaheng Zhang. Yongzheng Jia, also known as Abner Jia, is co-founder and CEO. Tiancheng Xie is co-founder and CTO, while Jiaheng Zhang is involved as co-founder and Chief Scientist in the project's cryptographic research.

The founders have a background in computer science, cryptography, and zero-knowledge technology. Xie earned a PhD at UC Berkeley and focuses mainly on zero-knowledge proofs and blockchain interoperability. The research behind Polyhedra started back in 2019 and later led to zkBridge, a system that lets different blockchains exchange data in a verifiable way.

Polyhedra Network was publicly introduced in 2023. The founders started the project to make computations and communication between blockchains verifiable with cryptographic proofs, without users having to fully trust central intermediaries.
