What is Mog Coin (MOG)?

Mog Coin (MOG) is a memecoin that launched on Ethereum in July 2023. The project calls itself the first ‘Culture Coin’ and is mainly focused on internet culture, memes, and community participation.

Mog Coin started as a meme among a group of friends and was introduced through a fair launch on Uniswap. The word ‘mog’ comes from internet slang and roughly means that someone outperforms or dominates another.

The project has no traditional product, formal team, or fixed roadmap. The official website emphasizes that MOG has no intrinsic value or guaranteed financial return and is mainly intended for entertainment.

The community mainly uses MOG for trading, memes, and other on-chain activities. In addition, there are tools such as mog.me and the @mogpfp-bot that allow users to create images and other content around Mog culture.

How does Mog Coin (MOG) work?

MOG was originally issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Users can store the token in a suitable wallet, send it to other addresses, and trade it on centralized and decentralized trading platforms.

MOG has no own blockchain or consensus mechanism. Transactions are processed by the network on which the relevant version of MOG is used.

In addition to Ethereum, MOG is now also available on Base, Solana, and BNB Chain. Through the official bridge, tokens can be moved between these networks. The bridged versions are linked one-to-one to MOG on Ethereum.

As a result, transaction processing depends on the relevant blockchain. Ethereum uses Proof of Stake, while Solana combines, among other things, Proof of History with a Proof-of-Stake-based consensus mechanism.

MOG has no official staking or governance system that gives token holders special protocol rights. The token is mainly used for trading, community activities, and participation in other on-chain protocols.

At launch, the supply was 420,690,000,000,000 MOG. Of that, approximately 30.12 trillion MOG has been permanently burned, leaving the current supply at around 390.57 trillion MOG.

Who are the founders of Mog Coin?

It is not publicly known exactly who founded Mog Coin. The project was started in 2023 by a group of friends, but the people behind the original launch do not use publicly confirmed real names.

A pseudonymous founder known as Aug has spoken publicly about a co-founder and a larger group involved in the original launch. The identities of these people have not been publicly confirmed.
