What is Gravity (G)?

Gravity is a Layer 1 blockchain developed by the team behind Galxe. The network is EVM-compatible, allowing developers to use existing Ethereum tools and smart contracts on Gravity.

Gravity is designed to support fast blockchain applications and interactions between different networks. The network focuses, among other things, on cross-chain applications, AI agents, and applications that need to process many transactions.

An important part is the connection with the Galxe ecosystem. Galxe uses Gravity as blockchain infrastructure for its various products. In addition, other developers can build their own applications on the network.

Gravity started in 2024 with Gravity Alpha Mainnet, a Layer 2 rollup on Ethereum. In 2026, the standalone Gravity Mainnet Layer 1 went live. This new chain is now Gravity's main production network.

G is the native token of Gravity and at the same time the utility token of the Galxe ecosystem. The former GAL token can be converted to G, allowing one token to be used within both ecosystems.

How does Gravity (G) work?

Gravity is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain. For processing smart contracts, the network uses Gravity Reth in combination with Grevm. Grevm can process transactions that are not dependent on each other in parallel, allowing multiple calculations to take place at the same time.

For consensus, Gravity uses a Proof-of-Stake system based on AptosBFT. Validators lock up assets to participate in securing the network. The system also supports restaking, which means economic security from other staking protocols can also be used.

Gravity is designed for applications that work across multiple blockchains. The network supports cross-chain transactions and intents. With an intent, a user mainly indicates what they want to achieve, after which the underlying infrastructure can determine how the required transactions are executed.

Gravity also has a native oracle. This system can make verified data from outside Gravity available on the blockchain, including information from other blockchains and external data sources. This allows smart contracts and AI agents to respond to this data.

G is the native gas token of Gravity. Users pay transaction fees with it and can use G for staking and governance. G is also used for payments within various Galxe products.

The G token also exists as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Users can convert these tokens one-to-one via the official bridge into native G on Gravity Mainnet.

Who are the founders of Gravity?

Gravity was developed by the team behind Galxe. Charles Wayn, Harry Zhang and Xinlu C are named as co-founders in the official documentation around the G token.

Charles Wayn and Harry Zhang are also the founders of Galxe, which originally started in 2021 under the name Project Galaxy. As this ecosystem grew, the need arose for its own blockchain that could process large numbers of transactions and applications across multiple blockchains.

Gravity was announced in May 2024 as the new blockchain infrastructure of the Galxe ecosystem. The first version, Gravity Alpha Mainnet, went live in 2024 as a Layer 2. In 2026, Gravity Mainnet followed as an independent Layer 1 blockchain.
