Additional Information about Fluid (FLUID)

What Is Fluid (FLUID)?

Fluid (FLUID) is a DeFi protocol that brings lending, borrowing, and decentralized trading functions together in an efficient liquidity layer. While many DeFi platforms split capital across separate components, such as lending pools, vaults, and DEX liquidity, Fluid aims to connect these different areas. This allows the same liquidity within the protocol to be used in multiple ways.

The goal of Fluid is to make capital more efficient within DeFi. Users can lend assets, borrow assets, or use them as collateral, while the protocol distributes the available liquidity as efficiently as possible across different applications. The FLUID token plays a role in governance and the further development of the protocol’s ecosystem.

Fluid was built by the team behind Instadapp, a well-known name in DeFi. The protocol mainly focuses on users who want to get more out of their capital than is usually possible on traditional lending or DEX platforms. By bringing lending and trading closer together, Fluid aims to create deeper liquidity, reduce inefficiencies, and offer a smoother DeFi experience.

How Does Fluid Work?

Fluid works with a central liquidity layer in which the protocol’s assets are managed. Several modules, such as lending, vaults, and DEX functionality, are built on top of this base layer. Instead of each component needing its own separate liquidity, these modules can use the same underlying capital base. This makes the protocol more flexible and efficient.

An important part of Fluid is the concept of Smart Collateral and Smart Debt. Smart Collateral makes it possible for collateral to do more than simply sit idle, as it can also contribute to liquidity and generate returns. Smart Debt goes one step further: borrowed capital can automatically be linked to trading pairs on the DEX, allowing it to be used to earn swap fees. In theory, these earnings can help reduce the cost of borrowing.

This approach also comes with risks. Because capital within Fluid is used more actively than on simple lending protocols, factors such as volatility, liquidations, rebalancing, and impermanent loss can play a larger role. Fluid is therefore mainly suitable for users who understand how DeFi, leverage, and liquidity positions work. The protocol aims to use capital more efficiently, but higher efficiency does not automatically mean lower risk.

Who Are the Founders of Fluid?

Fluid was developed by the team behind Instadapp, a DeFi platform founded by brothers Samyak Jain and Sowmay Jain. They have been active in the DeFi sector for several years and built Instadapp as infrastructure that allows users to manage positions across different DeFi protocols more easily.

With Fluid, the Instadapp team builds on that experience. While Instadapp initially became known as a DeFi management platform, Fluid focuses on broader financial infrastructure for lending, borrowing, and trading within a single protocol. The idea behind Fluid aligns with the team’s earlier focus: making DeFi more user-friendly, efficient, and technically powerful.

Although Fluid has its own ecosystem and token, its origins lie with Instadapp. The involvement of Samyak Jain and Sowmay Jain gives Fluid a clear link to a team that has been active in the sector since the early years of DeFi.
