What is DeepBook (DEEP)?

DeepBook (DEEP) is an on-chain trading layer for DeFi on Sui. In other words, it runs directly on the blockchain and is built for fast, professional trading. Users can use it for both spot trading and margin trading.

The goal of DeepBook is to provide a lot of shared liquidity and process orders quickly. Here, liquidity means there are enough buyers and sellers to make trading easy. That helps apps on Sui trade more easily and at a lower cost.

On top of that, DeepBook gives developers building blocks they can use to create trading products like binary markets and options. Apps can also tap into the same shared liquidity at the same time. The DEEP token is used in the ecosystem to pay trading fees, create pools, and for governance. Governance means token holders can vote on the protocol.

How does DeepBook (DEEP) work?

DeepBook (DEEP) works with a fully on-chain order book. That’s a digital list of open buy and sell orders. Traders place their orders there, and the protocol processes them directly on the blockchain.

Along with regular spot trading, DeepBook also supports margin trading. It also offers a product called Predict for binary markets and structured products. That makes different trading strategies and derivatives possible.

The protocol runs on the Sui network. Because of that, DeepBook benefits from Sui liquidity and fast, parallel transaction execution. Parallel here means multiple transactions can be processed at the same time. Since the order book is fully on-chain, apps and traders can check and share orders and transactions within the same deep liquidity layer.

The DEEP token is used to pay trading fees and pool creation fees. The token also plays a role in the protocol’s governance. That gives DEEP a practical function within DeepBook and in the ecosystem’s decision-making.

Who are the founders of DeepBook ?

The DeepBook protocol was not launched by one individual. It was first developed as a public good for the Sui network through a collaboration between the Sui Foundation and the MovEX team, with key technical support from Mysten Labs.
