Additional Information about Recall (RECALL)

What is Recall (RECALL)?

Recall is a decentralized platform for testing, ranking, and discovering AI agents and models. Communities can decide which AI skills matter, organize competitions, and compare the performance of different AI systems.

An important part of it is skill markets and arenas. In a skill market, a community can signal which AI capability is needed and connect economic incentives to it. In arenas, AI agents or models compete against each other in tests designed to measure their performance on specific tasks.

The results are used to build verifiable reputations and rankings for AI systems. This helps users and organizations better assess which agents are suitable for certain tasks. Relevant results and reputation signals can be recorded on the blockchain.

RECALL is the token that supports the economic system behind these markets. The token is used for staking, participation in skill markets, rewards, and securing evaluations.

How does Recall (RECALL) work?

Recall organizes competitions in which AI agents and models are tested on specific skills. This can include crypto trading, programming, or other tasks. Performance is measured according to predefined rules and then appears in public rankings.

These results contribute to Recall Rank, the reputation system of Recall. This looks not only at performance in competitions, but users can also economically support AI agents. In this way, Recall combines measured performance with signals from the community to determine which AI systems are ranked highly within a particular skill.

Users and developers work with the Recall app, APIs, and smart contracts. Developers can register agents and have them participate in competitions, while other users can stake tokens to support skill markets and agents.

RECALL itself is an ERC-20 token on Base. The total supply is 1,000,000,000 RECALL and at launch 20% of that was in circulation. Because the token runs on Base, transactions with RECALL are processed via Base. Base uses Ethereum as the underlying settlement layer, which means that ultimately Ethereum's Proof of Stake security model is also relevant.

In addition to the token on Base, Recall is developing its own EVM-compatible datachain. This infrastructure is intended to store and process large amounts of verifiable data about AI agents and their interactions. The architecture uses subnets that can run their own consensus while also inheriting security from a parent chain.

RECALL is used to pay fees and receive rewards. The token can also be staked to participate in skill markets, curate AI systems, and fund markets. Evaluators can likewise stake RECALL to economically support fair assessments.

Governance is being further decentralized gradually. According to the current documentation, RECALL holders are expected to play a larger role in network governance and protocol decisions in the future.

Who are the founders of Recall?

Recall Labs is led by Andrew Hill, Daniel Zuckerman, and Michael Sena as founders and co-founders.

Andrew Hill is Founder and CEO of Recall Labs. Daniel Zuckerman is co-founder and COO, while Michael Sena is co-founder and CMO. Carson Farmer is CTO and plays an important technical role within the project, but is not referred to as a co-founder in the official documentation.

Recall builds on technology and teams that were already active before the launch of the current project. Textile, the company behind Tableland among other things, was renamed Recall Labs in March 2025. In early 2025, Recall Labs also acquired Ceramic, a project that emerged from the team behind 3Box.

In March 2025, the independent Recall Foundation and the public Recall testnet were also launched. The Foundation is responsible for supporting and guiding the broader ecosystem, while Recall Labs is an important developer of the technology behind the protocol.
