What Is Momentum (MMT)?

Momentum (MMT) is a DeFi platform that combines a few key tools in one place. Users can trade crypto and tokenized real-world assets, which are traditional assets issued as tokens on the blockchain. Momentum also offers secure custody and treasury management infrastructure, a DEX with concentrated liquidity, and a Token Generation Lab (TGL). With the TGL, new tokenized assets can be launched and given an initial pool of liquidity. Momentum is designed to make DeFi and tokenized assets easier and faster to access for both professional firms and everyday users. The project is built to address problems like complicated tokenization, fragmented cross-chain liquidity, and slow onboarding. By bringing trading, token issuance, liquidity, and governance together on one platform, projects can launch and manage assets more easily, and users can trade them more easily too.

How Does Momentum (MMT) Work?

Momentum is built from several parts. At its core is a DEX with concentrated liquidity, where liquidity is placed within specific price ranges. The platform also includes a Token Generation Lab (TGL) for launching new tokens. Other features include yield vaults, which let users try to earn returns, and composable liquidity pools that can be used with other DeFi applications. Momentum uses smart contracts for things like bonding, ve(3,3)-style reward models, and buyback programs. With bonding, tokens are locked for a set period of time, while ve(3,3) rewards users for locking tokens longer and taking part in governance.

Momentum runs on the Sui blockchain and uses Wormhole for communication and token transfers between different blockchains. MMT is a fungible token issued directly on Sui. Momentum does not have its own consensus mechanism. Transactions are processed and finalized by the Sui network. Wormhole helps users and assets from other blockchains connect to Momentum .

The MMT token is used for governance and other functions within the ecosystem. Users can lock MMT and receive veMMT in return. These veMMT tokens are non-transferable. They give voting rights, influence over how new token emissions are distributed, and access to features like TGL allocations and yield vaults. Momentum does not have its own validators and does not secure its own blockchain. Those tasks are handled by Sui’s infrastructure and validators.

Who Are the Founders of Momentum ?

Momentum was founded in August 2022 as MSafe by Wendy Fu and Jacky Wang. It started as a platform for managing digital assets with multi-signature wallets and later expanded into Momentum , a broader DeFi platform in the Sui ecosystem.

Wendy Fu, also known in the community as ChefWEN, is co-founder and CEO of Momentum . Before starting the project, she worked as an engineer on Meta’s blockchain project Libra and the Novi Wallet. Jacky Wang is co-founder and CTO and previously worked as a developer on Harmony’s core protocol. Together, they launched the project to make it easier to manage, issue, and trade digital assets on Move-based blockchains.
