What is MANTRA (MANTRA)?

MANTRA Chain is a Layer-1 blockchain focused on tokenizing and managing real-world assets. These are real-world holdings, like real estate, bonds, or other financial products, that are recorded digitally on a blockchain.

The network is mainly meant for developers, financial institutions, and companies that want to offer regulated financial products on-chain. To do that, MANTRA combines an open blockchain with features that let applications apply identity and compliance checks, for example.

One example in the ecosystem is mantraUSD. This is a stablecoin on MANTRA Chain that is backed through M0 by short-term U.S. Treasury bills.

MANTRA Chain also supports both the Cosmos ecosystem and Ethereum-compatible applications. That means developers can use different existing tools to build RWA and DeFi applications.

How does MANTRA (MANTRA) work?

MANTRA Chain is built with the Cosmos SDK and uses CometBFT for consensus. Validators process transactions and secure the blockchain by staking MANTRA. Users can also delegate their tokens to validators and receive staking rewards for doing so.

The network is fully EVM-compatible. That means developers can use Solidity and existing Ethereum tools to build smart contracts. At the same time, native Cosmos features stay available.

MANTRA also has built-in features for creating and managing tokens. For example, applications can apply rules around who is allowed to own or send a certain token. That is especially important for financial products that need to meet legal requirements.

For connections with other blockchains, MANTRA supports IBC, Hyperlane, and Squid, among others. This allows assets and data to be moved cross-chain.

MANTRA is the network’s native coin. The coin is used for transaction fees, staking, and governance.

The token was originally called OM. On March 2, 2026, a 1:4 split was carried out and the ticker changed to MANTRA. Each 1 OM automatically became 4 MANTRA. The maximum supply was set at 10 billion MANTRA.

MANTRA Chain currently uses a fixed annual inflation rate of 8%. Of that, 60% goes to staking rewards and 40% to community rewards and ecosystem activities. These percentages can be adjusted through governance.

Who are the founders of MANTRA?

MANTRA started in 2020 under the name MANTRA DAO. The original founders are John Patrick Mullin, Will Corkin, and Rodrigo Quan Miranda.

John Patrick Mullin is co-founder and CEO of MANTRA. He has a background in finance and digital assets and still plays a central role in the project’s development.

Will Corkin was involved from the start in areas including business development, product development, and marketing. Rodrigo Quan Miranda was also part of the original founding team and the early leadership of MANTRA DAO.

MANTRA started as a DeFi project. Starting in 2022, the focus shifted more and more to MANTRA Chain, the current Layer-1 blockchain for real-world assets.
