What Is Lumia (LUMIA)?

Lumia is a blockchain project built around tokenizing real-world assets, like real estate. Tokenization turns these assets into digital tokens that can be traded on the blockchain and may be easier to move around because they have more liquidity.

The project is mainly aimed at institutional and professional users. Those users usually need scale, clear rules, and a lot of trading volume for tokenized assets.

The LUMIA token is the network’s native token. In the ecosystem, it is used for governance and for activity on the network.

How Does Lumia (LUMIA) Work?

Lumia runs on its own zkEVM stack. That setup lets smart contracts from Ethereum work mostly as they are, while making execution faster and cheaper. The project uses Polygon CDK and Erigon for this.

The ecosystem also includes tools for issuing assets in a way that follows the rules, pooling liquidity, and supporting tokenized real estate. In that way, Lumia aims to make these assets easier to use on the blockchain.

Lumia Chain is the project’s own blockchain. It is built as a scalable rollup and is focused specifically on RWA. Because of the zkEVM setup, the chain stays compatible with Ethereum. Components like HyperNodes are meant to support decentralization and security.

The LUMIA token is used as fuel for the network, for governance, and as an incentive within the RWA ecosystem. There was also an earlier ERC-20 version of LUMIA on Ethereum. Based on the available information, the token later migrated to Lumia Chain, so token functions now happen on the project’s own chain.

Who Are the Founders of Lumia?

Lumia grew out of Orion Protocol, which was founded in 2018 by Alexey Koloskov and Kal Ali. Orion originally focused on bringing together liquidity from different centralized and decentralized trading platforms. In 2024, after a community vote, the project changed into Lumia. At that point, the focus shifted to infrastructure for tokenized real-world assets.

Alexey Koloskov has experience building blockchain and trading systems and previously worked on software for financial institutions. Kal Ali is a co-founder and plays a leading role at Lumia. With Lumia, they are focused on issuing, trading, and using real-world assets within DeFi.
