Additional Information about Euler Finance (EUL)

What Is Euler Finance (EUL)?

Euler Finance is a non-custodial lending protocol on Ethereum. In other words, users stay in control of their crypto while still being able to deposit it to earn interest or borrow crypto using collateral as security. Euler Finance is designed to make borrowing as efficient as possible. Everyday users, developers, and curators can all create and use new lending products, which opens up more ways to borrow and save within a single protocol.

The community also plays a role in the platform through the EUL governance token. Token holders use it to vote on protocol decisions, helping Euler evolve based on what participants care about most.

How Does Euler Finance (EUL) Work?

Euler works through a modular design called Euler V2. Modular means the pieces are separate but can be combined. Vaults and the Euler Vault Kit are good examples. A vault is basically a digital safe where users can deposit crypto to earn interest, and those same vaults can also be used as collateral for loans.

Because these parts operate separately, developers and curators can build and manage new lending products more easily. That makes the protocol more flexible and opens the door to different use cases within the same system.

Euler runs on the Ethereum blockchain. The EUL token is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Because Euler works on Ethereum, it follows Ethereum's consensus as well. Since The Merge, Ethereum has used proof-of-stake to confirm transactions on the blockchain.

There is also rEUL. This is a reward token. Under a vesting schedule, it can later be converted into EUL. That is part of the protocol's rewards.

Who Founded Euler Finance ?

Euler Finance was founded in 2020 by Michael Bentley, Doug Hoyte, and Jack Prior. The three founders each brought different technical backgrounds to the lending protocol. Before Euler, Michael Bentley worked as a researcher at the University of Oxford, where he focused on evolutionary game theory and dynamical systems. Doug Hoyte is a programmer with experience in areas like network security and financial applications. Jack Prior worked as a web developer and had experience at several tech and financial companies before Euler.
