What Is ECOMI (OMI)?

ECOMI (OMI) is a Singapore-based technology company behind VeVe, a mobile marketplace for licensed digital collectibles and comics. The platform is designed to make premium licensed NFTs easier for everyday collectors to access by pairing licensing partnerships with an app-based showroom experience and augmented reality features.

The main use case for ECOMI is distributing and managing digital collectibles, including primary drops, secondary trading, virtual showrooms, and AR experiences. It aims to solve challenges around discoverability, licensing, and secure storage of digital assets by combining app-based experiences with a secure cold-storage Wallet.

How Does ECOMI (OMI) Work?

ECOMI works through the VeVe app as a centralized platform for minting and distributing digital collectibles, supported by on-chain tokens and other app components. The technical setup includes the VeVe mobile app for the marketplace and virtual showrooms, the ECOMI Secure Wallet for private-key custody, and on-chain smart contracts that make the OMI token functionality possible.

The OMI token is issued as an ERC-20 on the Ethereum mainnet and is used within the VeVe ecosystem as a payment method for buying digital collectibles and as part of the in-app economy. ECOMI relies on off-chain components for the user experience, while the OMI token runs on a public blockchain for token utility and interoperability, with possible additional rollout on other layer-2 or secondary networks.

Because OMI is an ERC-20 token, it does not have its own consensus mechanism. Transaction validation and security are handled by the Ethereum network, which provides consensus and transaction security.

Who Are the Founders of ECOMI?

ECOMI was founded by David Yu and Daniel (Dan) Crothers. David Yu is listed as co-founder and CEO, and Dan Crothers as co-founder and COO.
