What Is Arcium (ARX)?

Arcium (ARX) is a network that brings confidential computing to blockchains, with a focus on Solana. Developers can use it to add private computations and private transactions to apps like private DeFi, sealed-bid auctions, and confidential payments. That way, sensitive information does not have to be public on the blockchain.

The project is built to handle sensitive tasks off-chain. Solana handles coordination and payment settlement. In that setup, Arcium aims to offer more privacy while still using the blockchain for the visible, verifiable parts.

Arcium runs those confidential computations in parallel off-chain. At the same time, coordination still happens on-chain on Solana. This lets developers add privacy features without leaving the blockchain itself.

How Does Arcium (ARX) Work?

Arcium works through Arx nodes and Clusters that perform confidential computations. These are coordinated by arxOS, a distributed confidential operating system. You can think of Arx nodes as off-chain computers that split up the work, run it, and send back the results while keeping the content private.

Solana is used for on-chain coordination. That is where tasks are queued, assigned, and paid for. So the actual data and computations stay private off-chain, while settlement and verification happen visibly on the blockchain.

The network uses staking and delegation to organize how it works. Users can stake ARX and delegate it to Arx operators. Nodes with more delegated ARX get assigned work more often and receive rewards for it. ARX is also used for network fees, scheduling confidential computations, and governance within the Arcium system.

Who Are the Founders of Arcium?

Arcium was founded in 2022 by Yannik Schrade, Julian Deschler, Nicolas Schapeler, and Lukas Steiner. The project was originally called Elusiv and focused on transaction privacy on Solana. In 2024, Elusiv was renamed Arcium and shifted its focus to a broader network for confidential computations.

Yannik Schrade is a co-founder and CEO of Arcium and has a background in computer science, cryptography, and distributed systems. Together with the other founders, he is building a network that can run computations on encrypted data without exposing the original data.\br\brThe founders built Arcium on top of their earlier work on Elusiv. Their goal is to make privacy possible not just for transactions, but also for apps like DeFi, AI, and other systems that handle sensitive data.
